“Podunavka”, a science, entertainment and news journal, was published weekly in Zemun from 1856 to 1858. The title of the journal was framed by the Belgrade engraving. Ignjat K. Sopron, a German pressman and publicist, was its publisher and editor. The journal predominantly contained prose (stories about history, descriptions of towns and the like) and poetry of domestic and foreign authors. They also published the drawings of the world cities – Paris, Saint Petersburg, Vienna, Constantinople, and of famous people – Sterija, Palerston. The journal also contained various short news – domestic and foreign, announcements, postcards, scientific achievements and a lot of ads. The annual subscription was 4 Forints.
