Srbobran was a Serbian popular magazine and the organ of the Union of United Serbs "Sloga" (Harmony) which was published in New York since 1909 until 1919. Since 1916 the business director of the magazine was Mihailo Pupin. Besides usual articles about current world events and problems of public life, it was always maintaining thematic connection with the old homeland in every way. It played an especially important role in the first 10 years while it supported the Serbian thought of liberation and union. Its writing about Serbia in the liberation wars effected that the US public opinion stands on the side of Serbia and all the Yugoslavs. During the conflict of "Sloga" in New York and "Srbobran" in Pittsburgh, it was on the side of "Sloga" and Mihailo Pupin. The magazine was later published as "American Srbobran".
