ТНЕ EDUCATIONAL STRUCTURE OF RADIO LISTENERS In order to ensure that our data is comparable with that of official statistics we have endeavoured to stick to the features of statistics of official institutions. In statistics the first degree of schoohng is defmed as »No schooling and 1-3 grades of elementary school«, into which group аге placed those who have never attended school or attended only 1-3 grades of elementary school.* In determining groups according to schooling in our questiormaire we selected 9 groups of which the »no schooling and 1-3 grades of elementary school« was divided into »literate« and »ilhterate« individuals, which is very significant for this type of research. For all other classifications we used the defmitions of methodological material from the Federal Statistics Institute as applied in the March 1971 census. We shall show the number of people who listen to the radio in fig. 2, as a more effective way of perceiving the ratio depending on schooling. This fig. contains the averages from the nine DB series, according to which it is irrelevant whether the listeners live in homes equipped with radio sets or not.
