PRESENTATION: PROJECT VISIONS OF EUROPE Theatre Association Quartet September 17, 2010, 18h, Bitef Theatre Quartet brings together four European theatres: Théâtre du Rictus (Nantes, France), Gérdonyi Géza Szinhéz(Eger, Hungary), Zâpadoceské Divadlo (Cheb,Czech Republic) and Srpsko Narodno Pozorište (Novi Sad,Serbia),The association was founded in 2007 with a viewto exchange information, plays, actors, directors and othertheatre artists. It also aspires to combine different experiences relating to artistic and production circumstances under which productions come about in theatres belonging to different traditions and operating within different organizational structures and in different cultural contexts. The cooperation takes place primarily through the Visions of Europe festivals, which are organised by the Quartet members. During the last two years, four such festivals took place: in Novi Sad, Cheb, Eger and Ancenis. The side events held at the same time aimed at introduction of both association members and со untries, cultures and theatre traditions they come from. One of the most important of these side events was the Hotel Europe, a workshop conducted by the director Laurent Maindon and the participants were the actors from the Quartet members. The purpose of the workshop was to checkthe possibilities for cooperation among actors, directors, dramaturgists, and set and costume designers from different environments. The participants were not expected to create a production. As the workshop activities unfolded, we began to realise that it was the key side event and the very raison d'être of the Quartet. We decided therefore to start the next cycle of the association's work with a co-production. The work goes on but this time we are preparing a performance. The participants in the "Hotel Europe" workshop are Draginja Voganjac and Radoje Čupić from Srpsko Narodnog Pozorište, Laurence Hu by and Yann Josso from Théâtre du Rictus, Erika Nédasy and Arpad Sata from Gérdonyi Géza Szinhaz and Diana Tonikové and David Beneš from Zâpadoceské Divadlo. The set and costume designer is Marina Sremac (SNR) and the dramaturgists are Jônas Péterfrom Eger,Simon Dominikfrom Cheb and Aleksandar Milosavljević from Novi Sad.
