FRANCE AT BITEF 46 YEARS OF COMPANIONSHIP

Since 1967 when the production Summer by Roman Weingarten participated in the first festival to today's invitation to Joel Pommerat this year, in its 45 years Bitef was a host to the most prominent personalities in the French modern culture. Like Bitef itself, the objective of which is to always explore new forms, the shown productions enchanted, provoked, were met with enthusiasm or perplexity among the spectators. Yet - they never left them indifferent. Ariane Mnouchkine, Antoine Vitez, Alfredo Arias, Roger Planchon, Jérôme Savary, Maurice Béjart, Carolyn Carlson, Patrice Chéreau, Angelin Preljocaj, Eric Lacascade, Aurélien Bory and Gisèle Vienne are artists who left their mark on the history of BITEF. Institut francais wants to remind you of these 46 years of outstanding companionship and displays some thirty photographs selected from the rich library of the festival.

The exhibition opens on September 13th of September and it will be open until 13th October.

Following the first stage during which information was gathered about the most relevant theatre and dance studios, festivals and professional associations in these countries, the project will organise two-day professional meeting in Belgrade which will bring together some sixty participants from France and the region. The meeting will help to understand better the tendencies in modem creative work for the stage, discover numerous productions and artists and lay the ground for our cooperation in the future. Belgrade Theatre Meetings

Since the beginning of 2012 Institut Francais in Serbia has been involved in a major project concerning the stage art. The project called Theatroscope aspires to expedite the exchange between France and the countries of the region, i.e. the former Yugoslav territory plus Hungary, Rumania, Bulgaria, Albania, Greece and Turkey.
