Taking the performance Past is Present as a case study for various practices for what is called contemporary documentary theatre, the dramaturge of the performance Kris Merken and the actress Anne Haug, will try to articulate their artistic principles and present to the participants the process which led to this performance. Up to twenty people can take part at the workshop, after seeing the performance Past is Present, which will serve as a kind of preparation. The method is based on discussion and various contemplations on topic of professional dilettantism. In the first part of the workshop, the participants will hear about various phases through which the team passed during the process. The second part is practical and consists of improvisations, methodological plays and techniques employed by the authors to create stage and textual material used in the performance.

★anne haug was born in Basel, and studied acting at Art University in Berlin. During her studies, she played in Deutsches Theatre, Maxim Gorki Theatre, and also cooperated with the renowned director Rene Pollesch (known to Belgrade audience by the performance Pablo in der plus filiale shown at 39 Bitef 05). She won numerous acting scholarships, and was a member of the ensemble Theaterhaus Jena in the period 20092011). Since 2011, she has been a freelance actress/performer, and cooperates with numerous theatres and troupes, in Berlin and in Switzerland.

★ kris merken was born in Belgium, studied applied theatre at the University of Gießen, Germany, He has cooperated with many artists and troupes who apply the principles of documentary theatre, lecture performance and applied theatre. Some of them are: Corrine Maier (director of performance Past is Present ), Tim Etchells, Capri Connection, Monster Truck, and many more.
