KARIČ БАНКА KARIČ BANKA is the first private bank in post-war Yugoslavia. With its establishment in May 1990, the last barrier to the advancement of private capital was broken down. It was only then that the way for private entrepreneurship in its fullest sense was completely cleared. In less than a year and in adverse circumstances (economic system having social ownership, i. e. no ownership, as its foundation) KARIČ BANKA has managed to turn into an important financial institution with no help from the state and no loans. Its development is based on its ability to attract idle money lying in the homes of people who have lost trust in institutions of an economic system that does not have a clearly defined ownership structure. That “dead” capital is estimated at $lO billion. KARIC BANKA accepts only fixed-term deposits, offering very attractive interest rates that vary depending on the term and the sum deposited. It looks upon each client as a partner trying to offer him/her the best service possible. We also visit our clients in their homes if they cannot reach us. KARIČ BANKA sees its goal in using those funds to ensure healthy development of private sector, the only one, in our opinion, capable of surviving these critical times. It invests in small and medium-sized private businesses. So far the BANK has put more than 700 private companies to their feet and financed about 2000 with short-term credits based on mortgage. KARIC BANKA does not recognize ethnic borders and tries to run its business regardless of the fierce ethnic conflicts. One of its slogans is “Capital has no nationality”. KARIC BANKA also sponsors various art projects, considering the bank not only a financial institution in its strictest sense, but one of the fundaments of modern society. In its essence, the business policy of KARIČ BANKA is identical to that of any other private bank. What makes it special is the environment in which it operates. 7.
