“You’ve grown up," says the recorder voice. “What once lay before you as an exciting future is beginning to pale. You realise that you’re not unique.” The kids suddenly rebel: So who are you? Fate? God? Who says that this is how it will turn out? And really, in their life as in ours, something unique won’t pale: this performance, this theatre. This art. From here on out anything is possible. Christian Rakow, Berliner Zeitung

Jf To prevent any authenticating kitsch from coming up in the first place, the Gob Squad ironise the situation with an ostentatious declaration: “Ladies and gentlemen! Gob Squad present to you real live children!” They hang about behind their glass wall, watch some TV or play air guitar. Until an authoritarian voice reminds the teenagers that they aren't here for pleasure: “You are here to live and, at the end, to die! Grow up!” And with some haste, please! Peter Laudenbach, Suddeutsche Zeitung
