Closing workshop - Round table

BUILDING AN OPEN SYSTEM OF POLYPHONIC DRRMfI AND THEATRE Moderators: Vladimr Krušić, Ljubica Beljanski-Ristić and Ana Marjanovic Shane (via Skype) ■ The closing round table addresses the concept of Bitef Polyphony with the active participation of authors who realised the first project, workshop moderators, production directors and its other constant builders as well as the authors who in subsequent years participated and enriched Bitef Polyphony, becoming an inseparable part of its legacy, sustainability and specific methodology which will see its first presentation this year and introduce a new term and new guidelines in the relevant fields. Stimulated by the eponymous musical form, Bitef Polyphony has related symbolically this year's concept and the closing round table to the structure which has become and continues to be its mark. It is the specific structure of cyclical organisation and “feedback” and the concept of “polyphonic inventions” which emphasize integration and interlacing of different areas, authors, professions, generations, social categories... as well as subjects which emerge, come together, multiply, repeat, are rediscovered and introduced in a new form cultivating the principle of polyphony, many sounds, variations, counterpoints...

The discussion and exchange will be introduced by Vladimir Krušić, director and drama educator, founder and for many years chairman of HCDO, the Croatian Centre for Drama Education, He will speak about the paradigms in modern drama education and evolution of drama-educational ideas using as his example Croatia and the research which was his doctoral thesis. In the introductory part a special segment will address the models of Škozorište and Školigrica, two practical research projects whose experience served to create the workshop programme of Bitef Polyphony, The link will be shown also between the multicultural project Art for Social Change of 2000 and the intercultural project New Creative Choices initiated during Bitef Polyphony in 2011 which used the combination of the Roma traditional story-tellers and modern drama techniques to encourage the creation of “polyphonic methodology” and paved the way to UNESCO list for the preservation of the non-material cultural heritage.
