JURY

CHRISTIAN HOLTZHAUER, the president of the jury. He is dramaturg and curator, born in 1974, in Leipzig, Germany. He studied Theatre Studies and Musicology at Humboldt-University Berlin and University of Toronto, Canada. In 2001 he received his MA in Theatre Studies. From 2001 to 2004 he worked as a curator and programme dramaturg at Sophiensaele Berlin, one of Germany’s leading production houses for contemporary performing arts. From 2005 to 2013 he was dramaturg and project manager at Stuttgart State Theatre, where he conceived several festivals and international cooperations. As from October Ist,1 st , he is 2013 Artistic Director of Kunstfest Weimar (Weimar Arts Festival). Since 2005 he has been a member of the executive board and since 2011 president of Dramaturgische Gesellschaft (dramaturge' society), a network of theatre professionals from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. He has published various articles on dramaturgy in theatre magazines and taught at the University of Potsdam and the Zurich University of the Arts.

IGOR RUŽIČ is a theatre critic and journalist from Zagreb. He has been writing theatre reviews for Radio 101 and the fortnightly Vijenac since 1998, regularly appears on Channels 1 and 3 of the Croatian Radio and periodically cooperates with magazines such as Kazaliste, Frakdja, Hrvatsko glumlšte, with Kulturpunkt portal, Steirischer Herbst festival... He sat on the jury or selected programmes for festivals such as the Golden Lion International Festival in Umag, ASSITEJ Meetings in Čakovec, Naj, naj, naj Festival in Zagreb, Slovenian Drama Week in Kranj. Ružić has moderated theatre review workshops at ZOOM Festival in Rijeka and BOK Festival in Bjelovar. He works as a regular extramural associate of t portal.

YANA ROSS is theatre director from Lithuania. She broke through on international scene with a bold and shocking interpretations of Nobel lauriette Elfriede Jelinek's plays( 2006), to which Jelinek praised her ability to push actors beyond intellectual rigor and into the physical danger of being on stage. Frank Castorf reacted by invitng Ross to stage Heiner Muller Macbeth on the legendary political arena of Volksbuhne am Rosa Luxemburg Platz (2008). From then on, the artist hand-picks the most challenging and seductive materials for leading theaters in Europe. Her recent premieres are Ruhl’s Eurydice at National Theater of Finland and Slobodzianek’s Our Class at her home Lithuanian National Theater in Vilnius. Ross holds an MFA from Yale University and is a Fulbright Fellow. She served as a managing editor at Yale Theater magazine on a special volume: Russian Theater of the 21st Century, for which she received John Gassner Memorial prize. She is a resident director at the National Theater, Lithuania 2006-present.

FILIP VUJOŠEVIČ is playwrigt and dramaturg, born in 1977 in Belgrade. He graduated dramaturgy at Faculty of dramatic arts in Belgrade. He is a playwright and author of numerous plays, produced in Serbia and abroad. He was awarded with Special Sterija Price for dramaturge innovation, in a play Halflife, 2006. He has been worked as a cultural programme coordinator in Heartefact Foundation for three years, where he has organized regional competition for the best contemporary, engaged play. He dramaturge on more that ten productions in Belgrade theaters.

ANORAS URBAN is theatre director. He was born in 1970, Senta, Serbia. When he was seventeen, he started his own literary and theatrical creative workshop, in which he was present as author, director and actor. With his friends, he created the famous AIOWA group, which viewed the theatre as a complex, specific and ideological action, and he also became a member of the Summer Movie Theatrical Association. He has graduated as a director from the class of Vlatko Gilić and Boro Draskovic. He has founded the Urban Andras Company as a non-formal group, and began directing in the “Kosztolanyi Dezsd" Theater, but he has also worked with other theatres. Currently, he is the head of the “Kosztolanyi Dezso Theater” and the founding director of the international theatre festival Desire Central Station. His performances have been awarded with numerous significant awards on Serbian, Hungarian and international theatrical scene.

AWARDS

Bitef jury gives the Grand Prix “Mira Trailović” for the best overall performance, and the Special Prize for the performance outstanding in one of its elements. Apart from these two and The Audience award, the best director at Bitef traditionally receives the Politika Award. JURY FOR POLITIKA AWARD

Politlka's Price for the best directing will be awarded for the 36 th time, and the members of the Politika jury are renowned directors, theatre critics, and the journalists of culture section of the newspaper Politika.
