Jašući oblak ]e novi projekat libanskog umetnika i performed Rabija Mruea. Zasniva se na ličnom iskustvu umetnikovog brata Jasera u periodu posle libanskog građanskog rata, a koji je bio jedno od prvih savremenih razaranja velikih razmera na Bliskom istoku i uzročnik migracija. Ovo predavanje-performans kombinuje snimljeni video materijal i „živu“ reč u izvođenju samog Jasera. Snažna, dirIjiva i poetska mešavina činjenica i fikcije problematizuje koncept biografije, ispituje mogućnosti (granice) predstavljanja i sećanja i istražuje prostor između političke stvarnosti i ličnog sećanja. Rabi Mrue je veoma cenjen i na svetskim pozorišnim festivalima desto prisutan umetnik koji živi na relaciji Bejrut-Beriin, a podjednako je aktivan i u vizuelnim i u izvođačkim umetnostima.

x O PREDSTAVI

Predstava Rabija Mruea impresivna je kombinadja ličnog i političkog: za Jašući oblak, on poziva svog brata Jasera da igra lik koji podseća na njega samog. Jaser, osoba koja je nakon ranjavanja u Libanskom ratu izgubila moć govora, počinje da snima filmove koji su fuzija njegovih sećanja u formu subjektivne scenske slike razvoja političke situacije u Libanu. Za Mruea, ovo predstavlja polazište za umetničku autorefleksiju koju, potom, transponuje za potrebe pozorišta i izložbi.

Slike; jedna nestaje, druga se pojavljuje. On uglavnom ne razume vezu izmedu jedne slike i one koja stoji do nje. Potreban mu je neko ko ga dobro poznaje ko bi mu o njoj pričao i pokrenuo je, tako da ona više ne bude statična. Kada su naše uspomene nalik nepomičnim slikama bez scena iz prošlosti, kako tada funkcioniše sećanje?

Riding on a Cloud is a new project by Lebanese artist and performer Rabih Mroue, based on the artist’s brother Yasser’s personal experience in the period after the Lebanese civil war, which was one of the first contemporary large-scale destructions in the Middle East and one of the first causes of migrations. This lecture-performance combines video footage and “live" word performed by Yasser himself. A strong, moving and poetic mixture of facts and fiction problematizes the concept of biography, questions the possibilities (limits) of representation and memory, and explores the space between political reality and personal memories. Rabih Mroue is a very reputable artist, often present at theatre festivals worldwide, living between Beirut and Berlin, and equaly active in both visual and performing art.

x ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

The theatre piece of the director Rabih Mroue is an impressive combination of personal and political: For Riding on a Cloud he invites his brother Yasser to play the role of a character that resembles him personally. As a person who was injured in the Lebanese civil war and lost his ability to use words, Yasser began to shoot videos, which fuse with his recounted memories on stage to form a subjective picture of the political developments in Lebanon. For Mroue this is the starting point for artistic self-reflection, which he transposes for theatre and exhibitions.

Pictures; one disappears and another appears. Most of the time, he doesn’t understand the connection between the two successive pictures. Fie needs someone who knows him well to tell him about it and set the picture in motion, so it’s not still anymore. When memories in head are like still pictures with no scenes from the past, how does the memory work?
