Judd also names other satellites who had worked in the field of Geology, and says, “ Cartain Arabian writers of the tenth century, and afterwards the philosophers of Italy in the sixteenth, seventeenth, and eighteenth centuries-Lionardo da Vinci, Fracastoro, Steno, Scilla, Lozzaro, Moro, Donati, &ewith Hooke, Boyle, and Michell in England, Palissy and Buffon in France, and Raspi, Fuchsel, and others in Germany, laid the true foundation of a geological science, based on the observation of the existing order of nature.” (The Student’s Lyell. p. 5.
