within the company and an Independent Director/and or Choreographer drawn from without. From the funky, hell-for-leather physicality of first work »Fast Ground« to the subtler seductions and psychological persuasions, the crumbling baroque of the more recent »Toycart«, Stalker brings you a theatre of other-worldly metamorphosis. The company is currently working on a new show featuring angels, in which Stalker will take to the air... □ The Toycart Stalker Stilt Theatre’s latest piece »The Toycart« is volatile and eccentric - a wild dream of mania and fantasy. Its fusion of avant-garde stilt theatre, dance, acrobatics and original live music create an immense street spectacle. The show seeks to create a vivid dream superimposed on the urban environment: a reality based on the truth and emotion of any moment, celebrating the illogicality and immediacy of life. A giant rigged with musical instruments enters on swathers of shipping rope pulled by three elaborately costumed stilt walkers and their musical attendants. Coloured the blue of

memory, they promenade amidst the audience, parading through several centuries of fanaticism, frenzy and humour, dr awing on the distorted dream of their fantastical past. The ancient circus performers, belching giantees, revolutionaries and royalty totter out their story, dancing and falling, reaching for their past perfections. On arrival at a square, derobed and free of the cage, giant instruments adding to the stilt landscape, they unravel a dance of chaos and precision, indispersed with moments of lyricism. The stilt characters and musicians move between the air and the ground in tangled choreographies with dynamic lifts and falls of breathtaking skill and grace blending Stalker’s unique physical imagination and dexterity. □
