Belgrade, September 27- 30th, 2006, Centre "Sava" Executive Producer; JUGOKONCERT Partners: BitefTheatre, ARTLINK Belgrade, Centre "Sava", Belgrade Supporters: UNESCO Chair in Cultural Policy and Cultural Management- University of Arts, Belgrade, ZAPROKUL INTRODUCTION Looking ahead to the changes the region of South-Eastern Europe is facing, Jugokoncert has decided to promote an International Conference for Young Managers in Performing Arts called New Art Net in Belgrade (Serbia), the city which is located in the heart of the region and has the advantages of being an important point of contact for exchange within the region and with Western Europe, New Art Net is conceived as an intellectual platform for arts management themes, contact making and exchange among performing arts managers from all over the world (up to 40 years of age), with sessions delivered by international experts as well as participant's presentations. Partners in the project - Jugokoncert/Bemus, Bitef, and Art Link work in the fields of classical and contemporary music, contemporary theatre and multicultural dialogue. Although these institutions come from different areas, their common goals are: development of partnerships, creating co-productions, stimulating international artistic exchanges and development of different kinds of resources in cultural management. The official language of the conference is English. MISSION The mission of New Art Net is to support innovation, collaboration, and best practices sharing in the creation, management and presentation of the performing arts in an international context. VISION New Art Net will be a privileged place for exchange and interaction of cultural leaders in performing arts in South-East Europe. AIMS The aim of the conference is: • to strengthen the participants' managerial capacity, in order to support their goals, development and challenges; • to develop cultural dialogue and intercultural exchange at National and International level; • to disseminate best practices and practical experiences in the organisation of performing arts events; • to promote management practices, technical tools and techniques for improving efficiency and effectiveness in arts organisations; • to create a unique networking place.

CONFERENCE PROGRAMME The conference is organised over an intensive four days programme, each day of the conference being divided in one morning and one afternoon session and after conference activities. The sessions for the Conference will be modelled around the following structure: • Introduction • Presentation of materials prepared by the Speakers and case studies • Plenary discussion and debate Introduction Day / September27th Registration of participants and welcoming presentation from Jugokoncert and its Partners with a cocktail for the opening and networking. September 28th SESSION 1 - International Exchanges The objective of this session is to focus on important issues performing arts managers face on a day-by-day basis when contracting international performers, creating co-production with foreign institutions, organising tours and others. The understanding of different cultures/backgrounds and how people do business in other countries can be crucial for a successful event. Speakers: TBC SESSION 2 - Strategic planning and project management This session intends to focus on strategic planning and project management for performing arts organisations, touching on the tools and the competences that need to be developed in a coherent manner to achieve a modern managerial vision and an effective organisational behaviour of cultural sector institutions. Speaker: Lucio Argano - senior project manager - Adhoc Culture Sri, Rome, Italy. September 29th SESSION 3 - Leadership and team management This session will explore a number of issues related to leadership and team management that managers have to face on a busy environment such as performing arts in order to support their goals, development and challenges. Speaker: Susanna Eastburn - Executive director - London International Theatre Festival, UK SESSION 4 - Arts and Media relations This session will discuss about the components of media, marketing and public relations and how they can efficiently be used with performing arts events. Speaker: Andy Hudson - Senior Management Consulting and Media Producer-UK September 30th SESSION 5 - Presentation of host institutions, possibilities for cooperation on new projects and future development of New Art Net.
