FALK RIHTER rođen je u Hamburgu 1969. Studirao je pozorišnu režiju na Hamburškom univerzitetu kod Jirgena Flima (Jürgen Flimm), Manfreda Brauneka (Manfred Brauneck), Kristofa Nela (Christof Nel), Jute Flofman (Jutta Hoffmann), Refera Selarsa (Peter Sellars). Diplomirao je s 1985. s generacijom poznatom kao"hamburška škola", među kojima su i Nikolas Šteman (Nicolas Stemann), Sandra Štrunc (Sandra Strunz) i dr, Radi kao freelance reditelj I dramski pisac od 1996. Režirao je predstave u Hamburgu, Majncu, Dizeldorfu, Berlinu, Beču, Getingenu, Atlanti, Amsterdamu... Bio je kućni reditelj u Schauspielhaus u Cirihu, dokje direktor pozorišta bio Kristof Martaler. Sada redovno sarađuje sa Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz u Berlinu. Drame su mu prevedene na dvadeset jezika, a kao reditelj realizovao je preko trideset pozorišnih predstava. Smatraju ga nemačkim odgovorom na britanski „in- yer- face" talas koji je opisivao "Zeitgeist" 90-ih; jedan je od vodećih pozorišnih umetnika svoje generacije u Nemačkoj. Najznačajniji komadi: Bog je DJ (Gottistein DJ), Elektronski grad (Electronic City), Okovani ledom (UnterEis), Sedam sekundi (Sieben Sekunden). Pored svojih i komada stranih pisaca svoje generacije (Sara Kejn, Mark Rejvenhil, Jon Fose), režira i klasičen komade; u Schaubühne je postavio komade Čehova (Trisestre, Caleb, Višnjik) i Silera (Spletka i ljubav). Režira i operske predstave. FALK RICHTER was born in Hamburg in 1969. He studied theater directing at the University of Hamburg with Jurgen Flimm, Manfred Brauneck, Christoph Nel, Jutta Hoffmann, and Peter Sellars. He graduated in 1985 with the generation known as the "Hamburg School," that included Nicolas Stemann, Sandra Strunz and others. He has worked as a freelance director and writer since 1996. He has directed productions in Hamburg, Mainz, Düsseldorf, Berlin, Vienna, Gottingen, Atlanta, Amsterdam and elsewhere. Mr. Richter was house director at the Schauspielhaus in Zurich while Christoph Marthaler was director of that theater. Currently he works regularly with Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz in Berlin. His works have been translated into over twenty languages, and he has directed over thirty productions. He is widely viewed as the German answer to British "in-yer-face" theater that captured the Zeitgeist of the 1 990's and is one of the leading theater artists of his generation in Germany. Among his most important works are God is a DJ (Gott Ist ein DJ), Electronic City, Under the Ice (Unter Els), Seven Seconds/ln God We Trust (Sieben Sekunden/ln God We Trust). In addition to having directed his own works and those of other writers of his generation (Sara Kane, Mark Ravenhill, Jon Fosee), he has directed classic works. At Schaubühne he mounted productions of Chekhov's Three Sisters, The Seagull and The Cherry Orchard and Schiller's Kabale und Liebe (Intrigue and Love). He also directs opera productions.
