Member of the editorial board of the theater journal, Teatron. JUGOSLOVENSKO DRAMSKO POZORIŠTE Jugoslovensko dramsko pozorište / JDP (Yugoslav Drama Theater) was founded in 1947 as the flagship theater of the new Yugoslavia. Many of the leading actors and artists from cultural centers in Zagreb, Novi Sad, Sarajevo, Split, Ljubljana and other cities were invited to join in creating the new theater. The reknown director, Bojan Stupica, was named to head the institution as its artistic director Stupica, together with critic Eli Finci, established the foundations of JDP's orientation as repertory of high literary standards. That orientation remains to this day, when the scenic element has joined literary merit at the core of JDP's orientation. The spirit, significance and prestige of JDP are well-known to its older audiences, but they took on new meaning for the younger audiences who formed their taste for the theater in the early 1980 s and onwards when, for 14 seasons, Jovan Qrilov headed JDP. The region's many years of crisis did not succeed in extinguishing JDP's lights or its reputation for artistic excellence, innovation and courage. A catastrophic fire on November 17,1997 destroyed the JDP building, but not the institution. Through the tremendous efforts of Branko Cvejić (first as deputy director, then, starting in 2002, as director) and Gorčin Stojanovič (director as of 2001 and artistic director as of 2002), and with crucial assistance from the City of Belgrade and the Belgrade Secretariat for Culture, a new, landmark building was raised. The Great Stage reopened on May 23, 2003, with the premier of Rodoljupci (The Patriots), by Jovan Sterija Popović, directed by Dejan Mijač. In addition to the Teatar "Bojan Stupica" stage, JDP inaugurated a third stage, Studio JDP, in 2005. In May 2005, JDP became a member of the European Theatre Convention and, in 2006, was admitted to the Union of European Theatres, a network of Europe's most important theater establishments.
