BLOOD WEDDING

MILOŠ LOLIĆ 70'

This performance is short but forceful, like sudden storm. Miloš Lolić, a Serbian - whose performance Blood Wedding in Münchner Volkstheater are his first work in one of German state theatres - has let Lorca's lyric tragedy develop its primeval power, while applying his firm and restrained aesthetics to banish all the kitsch which is lurking in the poetically-pathetic speech of this play.

Christoph Leibold

Miloš Lolić has created a well thought-out and strict ballet of death. At the beginning there are photographs, as well as at the end. The opening photo is in colour, the members of the family are seated in golden chairs, staring at the camera, i.e. audience. At the end, the wedding turns into a mourning. The wreath is woven of bushes and branches, and the spotlights submerge the group in sepia light. Black-and-white photo turns pale.
