Richard Rose Richard Rose has served as Artistic Director of Necessary Angel since the company’s inception in 1978. His recent directing credits include Tarragon Theatre’s Prague and the Los Angeles production of Tamara, currently in its ninth playing month. For the latter production, he was just named Director of the Year by the Los Angeles Reader and was also recognized as Best Director by Dramalogue. In Toronto, Mr. Rose has directed such acclaimed successes as Mein, Censored, Boom! and the original Tamara, which swept the 1982 Dora Awards, winning five categories including Best Direction, He has lectured at York University, Brock University and the Native Theatre School and, when not directing,continues to pursue his interests in writing and play development □
Susan McKenzie Susan McKenzie has functioned as movement coach and improvographer for Necessary Angel since the company’s formation, choreographing the original Mein as well as assisting with such productions as Tamara, Boom!, Censored and Sid’s Kids. Upon completion of Desire, Ms. KcKenzie will depart on a European tour with Dancemakers, a dance company of which she has been a member for the past five years □ Dorian Clark In addition to designing the original and current Mein, Dorian Clark’s work has been viewed in The Innocent and the Just (Blyth Summer Festival) and in Steven Bush’s The Tempest (Newfoundland’s L. S. P.
U. Hall). Honoured with the 1982 Dora Award acknowledging her outH standing environmental designs for Tamara, Ms. Clark’s recent projects include set design for Tarragon’s Prague, as well as creating set and costumes for Separate Doors and Little Victories, both presented at YPT’s Nathan Cohen Studio □
Ines Buchli Presently the Associate Director for Necessary Angel, Ines Buchli once again joins Mein as Assistant Director and co-author. Her recent work includes directing a school tour of Riel for Theatre Tokachin and acting as Assistant Director for Andrades and the Lion and Célimare at the 1984 Shaw Festival. Ms. Buchli has also worked extensively in Vancouver, directing numerous productions for the New Play Centre and Carousel Theatre □
