JAN ENGLERT - actor, director, professor, artistic director of the National Theatre in Warsaw since 2003. He graduated from National Theatre Academy in Warsaw. He has played in performances by leading Polish directors, i.e. Axer, Dejmek, Grzegorzewski, Jarocki, Jarzyna. Englert made his film debut at the age of 16 in Canal directed by Andrzej Wajda (1957). Since then, he has appeared in over one hundred roles, in films directed by Kutz, Zaorski, Morgenstern and Bajon. In 2007 he played in Oscar-nominated Katyri directed by Wajda. He won numerous awards, among others "Aleksander Zelwerowicz" Award for his title role in Richard 111 (1994) and individual award founded by the British Council for the role of Mark Anthony in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar performed by the Polski Theatre in Warsaw at the Shakespearean Festival in Gdansk.
