It is the writer who is important, everything is subordinated to the word«... 1 Vuksan Lukovac, TV Belgrade film editor: »As in films, the critics do not know the technology involved, reviews do not mention in the case of films and television such aspects as rhythm, picture composition, music, they do not have an analytical approach to the programme but regard it as a whole«. Cameramen on the whole share the opinion of the film editors. One eminent cameraman, associated with many excellent series and programmes who did not wish to be mentioned by name for he expressed the attitude towards TV cameramen in general and not towards himself personally, says that in the course of his twenty years’ work on television, he has been mentioned only three times in TV reviews. On the same subject, Voja Lukić, also a well-known cameraman, wrote; »Yes, I like to read both good and bad reviews of the work to which I have contributed«. Celebrated cameramen - Stevan Landup, Veljko Petrović-Hari and Ilija Miletin replied »No«, but regardless of the critics’ position, Miletin considers that »A cameraman is obliged by his conscience to work well«. Zaro Tušar, TV Ljubljana cameraman: »Of course it has influence when objective, TV criticism is on indication of the effort we put into in our work«. Can one critic write ехрегпу at the same time on sports programmes, musical programmes and political programmes? The problems confronting television critics are great and are not only linked to the Vugoslav environment and the circumstances under which JRT programmes are followed and written about. The questions which we put, have already been faced by TV workers and their critics in Great Britain, France, USA and elsewhere. Although much more is written about television in these countries with highly developed television networks, even so, questions far outnumber answers.
