Before we end Section One of this Manual, we want to add a few words about the college behind WHCR , The City College of New УогК CCNY has been in this neighborhood for most of this century . Over the last two decades , the College has made a strong commitment to worKing with its neighbors for the mutual benefit of both of us . In that sense , WHCR Is Just the latest of a long series of events and programs which the College uses to reach out to the Harlem community . t For most of those twenty years , City College has tried to organize its community outreach programs as part of what we call the Urban Eđucational Hodel. WHCR as a neighborhood radio station of the Kind we have been describing is part of that Model. But there are тапу other parts that you might be interesteđ in , too . They include dozens of program sponsored by academic departments and other divisions of the College for community residents . And there are guite a few courses offered throughout the уеаг by the Division and Continuing Education, both on the campus and around the community , that are planned with communit 1 / interests in mind. The cultural and artistic programs of the Division of the Arts : The Davis Center. are especially important to those of us involved with the radio station . We broađcast events from the Aaron Davis Hall anđ worK closely with the music , theater , and đance programs in our programming . Мапу events at the Hall are open to the public and are intended to involve the community . WHCR sees the worK it does as ап extension of the cultural worK of the Arts Division.
