Centre for Drama in Education and Arts CEDEUM 6 th BITEF Polyphony 05 16, 17and 18th September 2005 Dom omladine, Skoligrica and Belgrade streets ON THE TRAIL OF A FAIRY TALE... On the trail of theatre for big and small personal stones Stories we tell children... and children tell us, the fairy tales of our lives... and those which are not ours, improvisers... and their ever new stories Workshops , performances and project presentations for children and young people, parents and teachers, artists... BITEF Polyphony 2005 has been conceived as an interaction of workshops, project presentations and performances with a view to encouraging a creative and artistic exchange of new ideas and concepts, thereby enriching the experience of all participants in these events, expanding their views and - through a new type of " story" - deepening their self-awareness, the awareness of others and the world they inhabit. This year BITEF Polyphony addresses specifically topics such as human relations, protection of the weak and defenceless, respect for differences, non-violent resolution of problems and conflicts, promotion of positive communication, and cultivation of a constructive dialogue. In 2005 BITEF Polyphony is dedicated to the great author and fairy tale artist Hans Christian Andersen. It thus joins in its own manner, through workshops, performances and project presentations, the biggest cultural project this year marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of this great writer and the outstanding quality of his work. In the titles of the BITEF Polyphony programmes one can recognise the titles of his tales as a thematic incentive to investigate universal and lastingly topical issues that man has always needed to talk about, the answers to which he still searches for in the reality and the real world around him or in the imagination and the fantastic worlds of invented beings and phenomena. Grounded in the experience of different trails persisting as a sign of changes or a consequence of innovative, participatory and creative processes, takes up the trail of reality in pursuit of an adventure aimed at investigating what it can mean to be " on the

trail of a fairy tale... or anti-fairy tale" in order to discover new incentives and changes which come to pass when there is a fusion of: Fairy tales we tell children... and children tell us, Fairy tales of our Üves... and those which are not ours, and Improvisers... and their ever new fairy tales. BITEF Polyphony will take place from Friday, 16th September until Sunday, 18th September in programme blocs lasting from 11 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 6 pm at Školigrica of the Stari Grad Cultural Centre, Dorn omladine Beograda (Belgrade Youth Centre) and at selected points that will become open stages along the routes between the two venues of the workshops, performances and project presentations. BITEF Polyphony will be a threetiered event: children 1 s programme, programme for young people and a special programme for theatre artists, teachers and other professionals working with children and young people in these fields.
