man-language theatre productions. Members of the DT's ensemble, such as Nina Hoss and Ulrich Matthes have been honoured with acting awards. The theatre's guest performances of Gotthold Ephraim Lessing's Emilia Galotti (directed by Michael Thalheimer) and Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita (directed by Oliver Reese), among others, have also won international prizes. The Deutsches Theater's main stage continues to be devoted chiefly to the classics, including: Goethe's Faust (Parts I & II), Schiller's Don Carlos, Lessing's Emilia Galotti and Minna von Barnhelm, Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Aeschylus'The Oresteia and The Persians, as well as Euripides'Medea. Meanwhile, the Kammerspiele focuses predominantly on modern and contemporary drama, such as Eugene O'Neill's Long Day's Journey Into Night, Tennessee Williams'The Glass Menagerie, Jon Fosse's Sleep, Yasmina Reza's In Schopenhauer's Sled and Elfriede Jelinek's Über Tiere (On Animals). Most recently, the newly founded »Box« in the lobby of the Kammerspiele presents young writers such as Simon Stephens, Enda Walsh, Moritz von Ulsar and Oleg and Wladimir Presnjakow. Since 2001, the DT has given over 200 guest performances world wide; tens of thousands of spectators in Europe, South America, the U.S. and Japan have seen its productions of Emilia Galotti, Faust I & 11, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and The Persians, among others. Through the accessibility and variety of its repertoire, and its commitment to nurturing the best actors, directors and dramatists, the DT continues to live up to its stellar historical reputation.
