BITEF / BEMUS in collaboration with the Department for jazz music at the School of Music "Stanković" September 27th and2Bth 10:00-13:00/16:00-19:00 BITEF Theatre Presentation of the workshop: September, 28th, 21:00, BlTEFTheatre Lead by: VladimirTarasov With a number of young people studying wind and percussion instruments from the Department of Jazz Music, School of Music"Stankovic", during a two-day workshop in Bitef Theatre, Tarasov will explore sound and new performing techniques and aesthetics. Presentation of the workshop will be held in BlTEFTheatre and will be opened for audience. Professors Goran Grbic and Siniša Jović have prepared participants for the workshop. Fie is also a master of decorative brushwork."- Nat Hentoff /"The Wall Street Journal" USA. VladimirTarasov was born in Archangelsk, Russia. Fie has studied music in Archangelsk and Leningrad. Since 1968, he has lived in Vilnius, Lithuania and for many years he has been a soloist for the Lithuanian Symphony Orchestra and many other symphonic, chamber and jazz orchestras in Lithuania, Europe and USA. From 1971 to 1986 he was a member of the well-known Ganelin-Tarasov-Chekasin Trio. With the Trio and many other artists and orchestras he has taken part in over 50 music projects and has recorded more than 100 records and CDs including numerous solo performances. In addition to composing music for film, theatre, and orchestras, VladimirTarasov is engaged as a visual artist. He has taught and given lectures at the Podewill Center in Berlin, the Music Academy in Bremen, and at Art Academies in Orleans (France), Dusseldorf and Vilnius. In 1993 - 1994, he received a grant from the Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart (Germany); and in 1998 from the Civitella Ranieri Center in Italy. He is the author of the book, Trio, which was published by "Baltos Lankos" publishing house in 1998 in Vilnius. Mr. Tarasov has performed with such musicians and artists as Andrew Cyrille, the Rova Saxophone Quartet, Anthony Braxton, Lauren Newton, and Josef Nadj.
