ANGELIN PRELJOCAJ After studying classical dance, Angelin started contemporary dance with Karine Waehner, getting a grant to study at Schola Cantorum. From 1 980, he worked in New York with Zena Rommet and Merce Cunningham, returning then to France with Quentin Rouiller, Viola Färber and Dominique Bagouet. In December 1984, Preljocaj founded his own company. In March 1985, he presented his first work Marché noir at the International Bagnolet Dance Competition, Le Ballet pour demain, for which he obtained the Ministry of Culture Prize. Creations of Peurs bleues. Creations of Larmes blanches. In 1986, he created A nos héros in Champigny sur Marne. He settled his company there. In 1 987, he worked in Japan with the Noh Theatre. In 1 992, he made a short film Un Trait d'Union, based on the choreography of Un Trait d'Union, Prize winner „Grand Prix International de Vidéo Danse" for his work. Creation of La Peau du Monde at the TNDI/Chateauvallon-Toulon. In 1 993 he became artistic partner of the Théâtre National de la Danse et de l'lmage de ChateauvallonToulon. Creation of Hommage aux Ballet Russes with Parade and the Spectre de la Rose, commissioned by the Opéra de Paris - Palais Garnier. In 1 994, he created Le Parc, for the Opéra de Paris Palais Garnier. Adaptation of Larmes Blanches for 8 dancers for Le Ballet du Capitole de Toulouse and for Le Jeune Ballet de la Compagnie Batsheva. In 1 995, he created Petit essai sur le temps qui passe at the TNDI/Chateavallon-Toulon. Creation of L'Anoure with an original music by Bernard Cavanna and a specially written libreto La Voix Perdue by Pascal Quignard. Adaptation of Le Spectre de la Rose for le Ballet de Monte-Carlo. Prize winner „Benoîs de la danse” for the choreography Le Parc at Bolshoi/Moscow. Creation of a duo: Annonciation. Creation of L'Oiseau de feu for the Munich Ballet. In January 1996, the Ballet Preljocaj settled in Aixen-Provence.
