PROBLEMS CURRENTLY FACING TELEVISION

During the Yugoslav Radio and Television (JRT) Festival JRT 77 - in Portorož, a symposium was held on the subject of »The role of television as a factor of self-managment integration«. The Symposium chairman was Vasilije Vukadinović, chairman of the JRT Programme Committee for Television. The umform basis of the information system in the Vugoslav society is identical with that which assures a uniform socioeconomic system, the uniform basis of the political system and thereby aiso the uniform socialist self-management social system. It, therefore, logically follows that the mass media play an important role in the development of the consciousness and feeling of equality and vital ties amongst the nations and nationalities of Vugoslavia, brotherhood and unity, Vugoslav socialist patriotism in the strengthening of the readiness and capability for the active defence of the country... 2. The uniform principles on which the Vugoslav information system is founded presuppose the development of independent systems of mformation in the republics and provinces... This is of major importance for the expression of national freedoms and equalities and also of joint interests, for better mutual acquaintance and links amongst the nations and nationalities of Vugoslavia as a multi-national federai state and a socialist
