Bitef

Ста коска, dvoje ljudi, njihova intimnost. Aleksandar Brkic, producent

While working on BITEF (Belgrade International Theatre Festival) I Intuited the significance of Josefs messages to myself and the people close to me but could not get to his 'workshop', the place all that peculiar energy stemmed from, until we organised a lecture by him at the University of Arts in 2004, within the "Scene Design on BITEF" seminar, when I saw him perform off stage for the first time. The flatiands, Kanjiža, black and white, movement, dance, jazz... peace that is heard and felt. I had the need to somehow be a part of his return to this metaphysical Kanjiža. The Untitled project was completely produced in Kanjiža as Josef Nadj's and Anne-Sophie Lancelin's reply to the framework set by Sodja Lotker, Prague Quadrennial art director, Milena Stojićević and myself as producers, and it will premiere ten days in a row within Intersection project that is the central part of the 2011 Prague Quadrennial. A black cube, two people, their intimacy. And their relation towards the spectacular everyday environment. Intimacy between two people, man and his roots, his land, his trees, his water, his people. We the audience try to push through the speed and the rational world we live in by remembering slowness and intimacy. Watching the two of them, trying to see ourselves In them, hoping that for a fleeting moment they see a part of it in us. The metaphysical space that Josef has protected in Kanjiža with the help from his friends, two Zoltans (Bickei and Balint), gives us the right to claim - in spite of the values of the time we live in that art still has the power to impact/affect/influence people. It is our pleasure that we have became a part of that space. Aleksandar Brkic, producer
